Conflict, Disaster & Human Security

Research focuses on the social and political realm, examinig issues of social health and "dis-ease" at the individual, community, national and international level, with emphasis on justice and human rights issues. Research includes: youth civic participation and apprenticeship; homelessness and therapeutic communities; leadership capacity in Africa; tribal identities and human rights in Islamic contexts; comprehensive security; and disaster planning, preparedness and risk reduction focusing on community participation, participatory tools and approaches, as well as psychosocial health.
