Research Centres & Groups
Centre for Health Leadership and Research
The Centre for Health Leadership and Research (CHLR), officially launched in September 2006, was established to examine current and emerging challenges related to leadership in the health care system. The Centre's research, applied in nature, examines the complex issues associated with appropriate stewardship of national, provincial and regional programs, the role of policy and accountability in health systems, and role of health care leaders in implementing best practices for change and the future of health in Canada.
Centre for Livelihoods and Ecology
The Centre for Livelihoods and Ecology (CLE) conducts strategic and applied research to encourage the wise use of natural resources as a way to diversify and sustain rural communities. It uses interdisciplinary approaches to understand the ecological and human dimensions of a wide range of natural resource issues. It provides information, analysis and recommendations to support decision-making and action by individuals, communities and governments. An interactive program of extension and training helps promote information sharing among researchers, traditional users, NTFP harvesters, resource managers, natural resource-based business owners and entrepreneurs, and policy makers.
Comprehensive Security Studies Group
The mandate of the Comprehensive Security Studies Group (CSSG), established in January 2011, is to foster actions that will recognize the importance of the whole of the security paradigm, from chaos to comprehensive and sustained security, and contribute to its understanding and attainment.
Institute for Values-Based Leadership
The Institute for Values-Based Leadership (IVBL), established in 2008, explores the theory and practice of "values based leadership", the exercise of influence to make a difference in relationships, teams, organizations, and communities through choices and decisions guided by explicit and consistently practiced values. Its values are grounded in three sustainability imperatives—the ecological, social and economic. Its vision is to inspire and enable leaders and their people to accomplish their highest values in action.
